About Us and Our Caramel
We’re a family business with a serious love for everything sweet and delicious. Our journey into the world of confectionery began years ago when we founded jedlyfotopapir.cz. We were among the first in the Czech Republic to offer custom printing on edible paper, fondant sheets and pretty much anything edible that would fit into a printer. We later sold the website and moved on to direct food printing – personalised designs on macarons, biscuits, wafers, chocolates and more.
As part of this work, we attended various exhibitions and events dedicated to confectionery, cakes, weddings and just about every kind of sweet treat imaginable. :) Along the way, we also made jewellery from natural materials and produced various tools for pastry chefs – from luxury cake stands and cake stencils to personalised tools designed around the individual needs of professional bakers and confectioners.
Eventually, we decided it was time to share our fantastic caramel recipes with the world as well. We simply love caramel. It’s delicious straight from the jar, but it also works beautifully in all kinds of recipes and as a flavouring. To us, it’s something of a super-sweet – the king of treats – because it goes with almost anything and somehow manages to make everything better. Hence our motto: “…everything is better with caramel…” We stand firmly behind it and are always prepared to defend our case. :)
We make our caramel using only high-quality ingredients, without artificial additives – just natural ingredients such as sugar, cream, freeze-dried fruit, nuts, butter and, where appropriate, the finest-quality salt. We want this wonderful treat to be accessible to everyone – as easy to enjoy as an ordinary bar of chocolate from the supermarket, only made to a much higher standard. That’s why, despite the ever-rising cost of quality ingredients, we’ve set our prices so that our Karamílek doesn’t cost more than an ordinary mass-produced chocolate bar.
We also make Karamílek in lactose-free versions and, where possible, in vegan versions made with coconut milk and therefore entirely free from animal products. We believe that, with your help, we can contribute to making Czech sweets just a little bit better and bring homemade cream caramel at a very reasonable price to everyone who loves a good treat.
Every single jar is cooked and prepared personally by us, with love – no automation and no industrial production lines. This gives us complete control over the quality of the finished product and means we can genuinely stand behind every single gram of our Karamílek. We carefully select our fruit and nut suppliers so that nothing compromises the quality of the final product.
We always test new flavours and recipes ourselves first, before letting our friends and family have their say. Only when a new flavour has won over enough people around us do we introduce it to the world through our website.
So even when you decide to try one of our more unusual flavours, you can be confident you’re not buying some bizarre culinary experiment that should never have escaped the kitchen. 😄
